De Niro in Canada: I apologize for Trump's 'idiotic behavior'

Hannah Rogers | 13 June, 2018, 05:38

"Nobody's talking to you anymore", Gutfeld said on De Niro, paraphrasing one of the actor's most famous lines.

De Niro said: "I'm gonna say one thing, 'F-k Trump.' It's no longer 'Down with Trump, ' it's 'F-k Trump'".

Robert De Niro, fresh off the Tony Awards stage where he verbally attacked the USA president, is now apologizing for Donald Trump's behaviour following the G7 summit.

"F*** Trump!" he exclaimed.

Echoing Trump's sentiments, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro also spoke harshly about Trudeau on Fox News over the weekend.

Robert De Niro didn't hold back at the Tony Awards, using an expletive to blast US President Donald Trump.

De Niro made his comments at a groundbreaking for a Nobu hotel in Toronto.

"Canada's foreign affairs minister, Chrystia Freeland, responded to the attacks by saying the country "does not believe that ad hominem attacks are a particularly appropriate or useful way to conduct our relations with other countries".

Co-host Carrie Bickmore pointed out that the situation is relatively "standard now", and she's right - it's not uncommon for De Niro to mouth off, nor is it uncommon for celebrities taking a strong political standpoint to receive high praise from Hollywood. He went on to argue that people should be upset about Trump's rhetoric if they were angry about De Niro's. In addition to appearing many times as Special Counsel Robert Mueller on "Saturday Night Live", he publicly called Trump and "idiot" who "lacks any sense of humanity or compassion" in March.

De Niro criticized Trump again in April during the opening night of the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival calling him a liar and a "madman".

The expletive, known as the F-bomb, was bleeped by the CBS network for millions of television watchers at home, a CBS spokeswoman said.
