Griezmann: My Future Will Be Announced Next Week

Noah Ferguson | 12 June, 2018, 21:21

Frenchman Antoine Griezmann scored two goals for Atletico Madrid, and he could be on his way to Barcelona this summer.

Speaking on Monday, Griezmann's France manager Didier Deschamps revealed the striker would be playing in La Liga next season during a media briefing.

Griezmann has been dedicating a lot of time to his decision, and reports claim that he's turned to French teammates while preparing for the World Cup for advice. "I know there's a lot of expectation, but today is not the day [to speak about my future]", he said reading from a pre-prepared statement.

But with Barcelona in the hunt, Messi has told his club to get the transfer over the line - or risk not winning the Champions League. I'm just saying that to win the Champions League you need to have the best. And Griezmann is one of them. The deal, should he sign, will make him the club's highest paid player; and the entire club has been endorsing the deal since it was offered - from the president right down to the kit man.

"I don't know if he's the priority".

Griezmann, 27, is the subject of a tug-of-war between Barcelona and his current club, Atletico Madrid.

The Argentine, whose side were surprisingly dumped out of last season's competition at the quarter-final stage by Roma despite winning the first leg 4-1, added: "The truth is we would like to have won more Champions Leagues, above all in the last three years". But we still have time to correct mistakes.
