Tayeb Souami, of Little Ferry, gestures as he is introduced as the $351.3 million Powerball victor, Friday, June 8, 2018, in Trenton, N.J.

One lucky person has claimed the $315.3 million Powerball jackpot won from a ticket purchased at a New Jersey supermarket, state lottery officials announced.

Tayeb Souami was introduced Friday during a news conference at lottery headquarters.

"North Dakota Powerball players have had some pretty good luck in 2018", said Randy Miller, director of the North Dakota Lottery, in a statement.

Souami, who is a married father of four, came to the United States in 1996.

It wasn't known Thursday if the victor had made a decision to claim the lump sum or take their winnings over time.

Souami has since quit his job and plans to stay in his New Jersey hometown, for now, he said.

He found out he was the victor the next day. When he stopped at a red light, he went into a 7 Eleven store to check the tickets. The owner said none of the 22 stores they own have ever sold a multi-million dollar winning lottery ticket before. "And she kept saying, 'Oh, my God". Oh my God. Oh my God, ' " he said, adding his heart was beating out of his chest "just like a 'Tom and Jerry" cartoon".

He realized he won and rushed home to tell his wife.

A New Jersey man came forward as the victor of the $315.3 million Powerball jackpot.
