Despite the heinous nature of the allegations leveled at XXXTentacion, one of the biggest and most celebrated rappers around, Kendrick Lamar, chose to personally intervene on his behalf.

Kendrick Lamar has reportedly threatened to pull all of his music from streaming service Spotify in retaliation to the company's recent "hate conduct and hateful conduct" policy.

While Spotify's highly subjective policy was met with applause in certain quarters, far more objected to its vagueness, the impracticality of policing it, Spotify's seeming hubris in making such determinations, and especially the fact that it has thus far targeted only black males who have been accused but not convicted of serious crimes.

Spotify has also said that they have no plans at the moment to re-instate R. Kelly's music.

According to Bloomberg, sources with knowledge of the matter say Spotify's top executives intend to restore XXX's music to its editorial content, following widespread criticism from fans, music figures, and activists. Both artists were the first to be targeted by the new policy. It would be a big deal if Kendrick Lamar, recent Pulitzer Prize victor and the mainstream rapper perhaps most seen to represent the genre's moral center, threw his considerable weight around to get XXXTentacion back on Spotify's powerful rap playlists.

Bloomberg reports that changes to the recent policy are still being hammered out and that there are now no plans to begin promoting R. Kelly's music again. In a nutshell, the streaming music platform reserved the right to remove offensive content from its platform at its digression or at the very least, refrain from promoting content from artists and creators that have demonstrated hateful conduct in their personal lives.
