Ekiti primary: Oni threatens to dump APC

Ekiti 2018: Fayemi'll suff er worse defeat in July – Fayose EKITI 2018: Fireworks begin as Olusola lashes out at Fayemi over N5.14bn allegedly looted

Mr Al-Makura, governor of Nasarawa State, said that delegates and other party members supported the process with cooperation and orderly behaviour.

He also sarcastically thanked the APC for making winning easier for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Prof.

He commended all the participants in the keenly contested primary who passionately worked hard to serve Ekiti state as governor, urging them to keep upholding the values and philosophy of the party by supporting the APC candidate in the forthcoming elections.

Addressing journalists yesterday in Iyin Ekiti after a meeting with his supporters from the 177 wards in the state on his next move, Bamidele said the coming election is not just about Fayemi or any other, but about the party and to rescue the people from poverty and redeeming the state economy.

The incumbent governor said the defeat would be worst than what Dr. Fayemi suffered in the 2014 poll, adding that the APC candidate, who clinched his party ticket on Saturday should not celebrate yet.

The former governor made the remarks one day after he was declared the victor of the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. Fayemi should not celebrate this pyrrhic victory yet because it is nothing but a flame that will be quenched on July 14. For us in the APC, whenever there is a primary election, it is a family affair.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to not hurry up to replace Mines and Steel Minister, Dr Kayode Fayemi, in his cabinet.

Fayose tweeted: "I thank the APC for giving Ekiti people a candidate they love to vote against at all times". And whenever we finish our primary elections, and aspirants and stakeholders come together to work as a team, it gladdens our heart as a party. "He will meet his political waterloo on July 14", he said, adding that the party, which was dead before in Ekiti, has now been buried with Fayemi's victory.

Of surprise was the performance of Kayode Ojo, a business tycoon, who trailed the two front-liners to come third.

She explained that none of the contestants in the last Saturday's APC governorship primary in Ekiti sent in any petition. We are also glad that the Ekiti primary election has taken place and that the aspirants are working together to ensure that we win the governorship election in Ekiti state.

He said that the APC was taking the Ekiti governorship poll seriously "to redeem the state from a very abusive government".
