It will mark the first participation of a BMW Motorsport auto in racing since 2011.

The new luxury sports vehicle will be presented for the first time on 15th June 2018, on the eve of the 24-hour race.

BMW has revealed the new 8 Series, undisguised but unclear, in an image accompanying the announcement of the flagship coupe's debut date.

The production model of the 8 Series was developed in parallel with the M8 GTE race vehicle.

Other talking points include controlled rear axle differential lock, integral active steering, adaptive M suspension technology featuring active roll stabilization, and 20-inch light alloy wheels boasting high-performance tyres.

After revealing the photographs of the all-new 8 Series Coupe from the final stages of development, BMW has announced that new luxury sports vehicle will be unveiled to the world on June 15, 2018. "These characteristics define our new sports vehicle in a special way".

The BMW 8 Series was first unveiled in concept form at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este event - reviving a hallowed BMW nameplate last used in 1999.

Despite its sporting pretensions, BMW claims the new model is "equally as convincing in the role of the sovereign cruiser that pampers its passengers".

From the sound of it, we won't see the M8 or the production 8 Series Gran Coupe just yet.

Therefore, the world premiere of the BMW 8 Series Coupe in Le Mans is also giving an especially emotional go-ahead for the brand's current model initiative in the luxury class.
