Specifically, Subit continued, Microsoft's internal unit (known as "ERIT") received 108 complaints of sexual harassment filed by female US-based technical employees, 119 complaints of gender discrimination, eight complaints of retaliation, and three complaints of pregnancy discrimination.
Microsoft Women filed 238 internal complaints regarding gender discrimination and sexual harassment in the last six years, 2010-2016, according to court filings which were made public on Monday.
Paintiffs are reportedly pushing for a class action lawsuit to cover 8,000 women working at Microsoft, who claim the company systematically denied pay raises and promotions to females.
The lawsuit, filed in Seattle federal court in 2015, is attracting wider attention after a series of powerful men have left or been fired from their jobs in entertainment, the media and politics for sexual misconduct.
The plaintiff's attorneys want to move the case forward as a class action lawsuit - that would cover more than 8,000 women - but the USA district judge has yet to schedule a trial.
The scope of women's complaints against the company was made public Monday as part of an unsealing of documents in an ongoing lawsuit against Microsoft.
The two sides are exchanging documents ahead of trial, which has not been scheduled. Attorneys for the women called the number of complaints "shocking" in the court findings and that the response by Microsoft's team "lackluster", reported Reuters.
In the latest document, which is a motion to bring the case as a class action, the plaintiffs claimed Microsoft's investigations team is "notorious... for "rubber-stamping" management", while employees have "little faith" in investigations. The company had about 74,000 USA employees at the end of past year. To give one example out of all of the claimed instances of gender discrimination, Microsoft's internal investigation only found that one such complaint was "founded". The court disagreed. U.S. District Judge James Robart is expected to rule on the plaintiff's class action status soon.
A Microsoft spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment.
In the past, Microsoftargued that the number of complaints filed by women should be kept undisclosed because publicizing the number could discourage women at the company from filing complaints in the future. However, a court-appointed official found the situation to be too far from a competitive or business harm to keep the information private.
