AmazonBasics is not only very lucrative for Amazon, it's become a trusted brand shoppers turn to when they want a reliable accessory.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says Amazon has received 53 reports of the power banks overheating.

Amazon has received 53 reports of the power banks overheating in the USA, including one report of chemical burns due to contact with battery acid and four reports of property damage, including fire and smoke damage.

Amazon is recalling 260,000 AmazonBasics portable chargers after reports that they can overheat and cause fires or burns.

The Verge reported the recall will affect six models of AmazonBasics Portable Power Banks sold between December 2014 and July 2017.

Manufactured in China, the recall involves six versions of lithium-ion battery chargers/power banks, which were sold with or without a USB charger cable and a carry pouch. Product ID number B00LRK8EVO, B00LRK8HJ8, B00LRK8I7O, B00LRK8IV0, B00LRK8JDC or B00ZQ4JQAA is printed on the back of the unit.

Seattle-based Amazon said it is also contacting customers. If you didn't, then contact Amazon directly toll-free at 855-215-5134 from 8am to 5pm ET Monday through Saturday. It's unclear if the power banks have caused any injuries or fires thus far.

Amazon is sending out emails to those who have purchased the power banks, recommending they immediately stop using them.
