John Cena In Talks To Star In Duke Nukem Film

John Cena Might Be Cast In A Live Action Duke Nukem Movie John Cena In Talks To Star In Duke Nukem Film
Hannah Rogers | 23 January, 2018, 08:49

We can practically see the memes now. No writer or director is linked to the Duke Nukem movie as of Monday (January 22), though the outlet notes that the search for a scribe will start soon.

In one of the more ridiculous stories of this young year, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting news that WWE Superstar John Cena is in talks to play the role of his life, Duke Nukem.

The project is set up at Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller's Paramount-based banner, Platinum Dunes.

An amalgamation of all the most absurd, extreme action heroes around, the gun-toting, catchphrase-spewing, muscle-bound character first appeared in the 1991 eponymous video game, developed by Apogee Software. That title was followed up two years later with Duke Nukem II, and again with Duke Nukem 3D in 1996.

For those unfamiliar, Duke Nukem is a series of sporadically released video games where the titular hero kills aliens while embodying every trope of the cinematic action hero from the 80's. That aside, Cena is a dead ringer for Duke Nukem.

Cena is starring with Hailee Steinfeld in Paramount's upcoming Transformers prequel "Bumblebee: The Movie", with Bay producing.
