United Kingdom company Integral Memory today announced a 512GB microSD card, which is officially the largest microSD card that's been introduced to date. Whatever the price ends up being, it's probably not going to be cheap, but it'll be pretty cool to add half a terabyte of storage to your phone just by popping in a tiny microSD card. The new 512GB microSDXC card has been performance tested with a range of smartphones and delivers up to 80MB/s transfer speed. And it works with your Android devices, provided your device supports a high capacity card. Also, the card could be useful to the people who store massive games (a couple of GBs in size) on their smartphones.
The new card meets the Video Speed Class 10 (V10) standard, that allows fast data transfer and full HD video captures on devices faster and more reliable.
Additionally, whilst mobile devices lead the demand for increased storage, according to Integral, the expansion in new product categories including action-cams, drones, home security cameras and dash cams has triggered a surge in demand.
Integral Memory will start selling the card, which comes with a 5-year warranty, sometime next month.
Integral Memory is coming with a 512GB microSDXC card which will beat SanDisk's microSDXC card with a storage capacity of 400GB.
The record for largest microSD card has been set again.
Integral hasn't yet announced the price for its device, but it'll probably be in the ballpark with the 400 GB SanDisk, which previous year hit the shelves at US$249.99.
The card arrives in February, although it's not clear how much it will cost or how readily available it will be outside of the UK.
