In it, she underscores her background as the first female fighter pilot to fly in combat and appears to nod to the conservative base with references to sharia law, religious liberties and Trump.
"Like our president, I'm exhausted of PC politicians and their BS excuses", McSally said in a video announcement emphasizing her service in the Air Force.
"After taking on terrorists in combat, the liberals in the Senate won't scare me one bit", McSally, 51, said in a YouTube video. But it will also ripple out to Republican Congresswoman Martha McSally, who the party viewed as the most favorable general election candidate for the ticket. "I'm a fighter pilot and I talk like one. Now, I am running for the Senate to fight the fights that must be won - on national security, economic security and border security".

"As a member of the wildly unpopular Republican Congress, Mitch McConnell's handpicked candidate Rep. McSally has spent her career as a reliable vote for corporate special interests and Wall Street, not Arizona families", J.B. Poersch, the organization's president, said in a statement. Jeff Flake, a Republican, has announced he won't seek re-election.
Like McCain and Flake in recent campaigns, McSally probably will have to run to the right in the primary and, if she prevails, pivot toward the political center for what most observers expect would be a tough general-election campaign against U.S. Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, the well-funded front-runner in the Democratic Senate primary.
Arpaio, a prodigious fundraiser who boasted Tuesday that he has never lost a Republican primary, said he expects to win if given "a fair shake" by what he called the biased news media. "It will drain the GOP's resources, demoralize their voters, and expose the flaws in each of their candidates".
