Fans of New Orleans rapper Kevin Gates are determined to declare, Jan.10, as "Kevin Gates Day".

TMZ reports the rapper Kevin Gates was released from East Moline Correctional Center in IL, a week after it was confirmed he'd be a free man. A spokeswoman from the Illinois Department of Corrections says the 31-year-old made parole on Wednesday, after serving nine months in East Moline.

Last March, the rapper was arrested and sentenced to 30 months in IL.

Now a free man, he plans on working with at-risk youth by speaking with kids via various organizations to help them avoid the same legal troubles that have burdened his life.

He was released from the state prison on parole, TMZ reported.

Gates tweeted this photo after his release this morning.

Gates' first sentence stemmed from his 2015 battery charge after an alleged altercation with a female fan at a Florida concert.
