NASA's Curiosity rover has discover an unusual - an quite tiny - feature on the Mars landscape, one with a odd shape and an unknown explanation.

DiGregorio, a research fellow at the University of Buckingham, said, "They look remarkably similar to Ordovician trace fossils I have studied and photographed here on Earth".

Moreover, it is the first time that NASA has agreed on the finding of unusual objects on Mars that might point towards the alien life in the past on the red planet.

"From orbit, this location has a very interesting appearance, with bluer hues being observed in High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera data onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter".

Scientists also intend to let Curiosity examine the rocks using the ChemCam, a rock which uses lasers to crush small rocks and figure out their composition, even from a long distance. Trace fossils work as an evidence that many years back the place had sign of life.

Photos released by NASA show tiny "wiggly" figures.

There are still some questions about these things, like are they related to geological or biological parameters, are they trace fossils? Well, till now the scientists have not confirmed about what is that object but it is expected that, it could be trace fossils.

Scientists analysed the images taken by the Curiosity Rover on Mars.

Pascal Lee, a planetary scientist at the Mars Institute and SETI, said the figures have "piqued their curiosity". Lee informed, when he first looked at the thing he thought that as bioturbation. For now, it is just an assumption.

The scientists fund them angular in multiple dimensions. However, as it is still too early to predict something like that, Ashwin Vasavada, Curiosity project scientist at Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory says: "We certainly won't jump to that as our first interpretation". In the original post, the team of scientists suggested that these might be crystals or maybe minerals filling in cracks in the rocks where crystals melted away. But Curiosity is still investigating the area, on NASA's orders. Vasavada said that may be the Curiosity rover can identify if it is a process of crystallization or biological process. But it is quite hard to know about the origin of such things by photos beamed back by the Curiosity rover. The rover has been helped in many ways to NASA to solve some mysteries about Mars.
