Jacksonville Jaguars v New Orleans Saints Saints fans sues over protests which hadn't started yet

A New Orleans Saints fan has gotten so upset with players protesting during the National Anthem that he is actually suing the team because of it.

But those protests may not have actually started at the time which he became so offended he chose to stop going to games.

Lee Dragna of Morgan City, La., filed a lawsuit asking for a refund and payment of attorney's fees, alleging the players' protests have prevented him from enjoying the games at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The suit claims Dragna has not attended a Saints home game since Week 2.

When they did come out, the suit says "they passed directly in front of where the petitioner and his guests were seated".

The Saints have not commented on the matter.

"The Saints created that behavior by condoning it", he told The Advocate.

Lee Dragna charges in his suit, filed December 11 in the 24th Judicial District, that the demonstrations and the resulting booing and cursing by fans at the players caused his tickets to lose their entertainment value.

Protests prior to NFL games started when former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick first sat and then knelt during the national anthem in the 2016 season. "If you sell tickets to a gaming event for entertainment, you should not be allowed to turn it political".

Saints players and those from several other teams starting kneeling or sitting during the anthem shortly after President Donald Trump called on National Football League owners to fire players who did not stand during the anthem. The fan reaction to the protests, he said, is "borderline risky".

A few weeks later, news of the protest broke, stirring controversy, though nothing on the scale it would achieve a year later when President Donald Trump began tweeting on the subject.

Dragna's suit cites instances at other games in which Saints players kneeled during the anthem, charging that they were "following the lead of Colin Kaepernick by disrespecting the flag, the Anthem; the US and those who have served and are serving the U.S. in our military".

Earlier in the season, Dragna demanded that Saints refund the $8,000 he spent on the tickets, but this initial request was denied. "One way or another they'll pay".
