We are not taking Sri Lanka lightly, says Ajinkya Rahane

India vice captain and premier batsman Ajinkya Rahane is not losing sleep over his recent failures to convert starts into big scores. Ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka, Saha reveals which bowler he finds the most hard to keep wickets against.

"The team shape is good".

"Everyone knows how to adapt and adjust to all the formats". Do that I think 5-6 maybe more than that. "However the wicket be, our target will be to win the first Test and get momentum to win the series", Saha added. We will have practice sessions today and tomorrow so, the preparations are going pretty well.

The low-profile Sri Lanka series is seen as a prelude to their gruelling two months' tour to South Africa against whom they will play three Tests, six ODIs and three T20Is in January-February next year. "We are just concentrating in this series", he said. "We just want to think about our game rather than thinking about their combination or their strengths".

About practicing reverse sweeps in the nets: It is important to improve your game day by day. "So I am just practising reverse sweeps, sweeps and paddle sweeps just as an option".

"It's important to improve your game everyday and evolve when you are practising at the nets".

"South Africa will be completely different".

He said, "Every match is important for us". For us, if we want to be the number one team, every series is important and we want to win each and every match and each and every series. This is an important series for Sri Lanka as well and they have been preparing really well. It is to take care of yourself as in future we will be playing a lot of matches.

Rahane got out for 49 and 45 in his last two Ranji matches against Odisha and Baroda respectively, but he was "not too concerned" about that. I am batting really well. "I have four 50s in a row", he said referring to his knocks against Australia in the ODI series in September-October. "I am comfortable. For me it's important to give my best in the nets". Rahane, though, said shifting formats won't be an issue. We focus on training sessions and recovery sessions. "So, recovery will be very crucial for us".

Asked whether they would play three spinners, he said: "Ultimately we will decide as per the wicket and see who gets maximum purchase from the wicket". "I am sure we will be well prepared before the match", Rahane said at a press conference in Kolkata, the venue for the first Test, starting from November 16.
