Three people have been killed in a shooting at an elementary school in Tehama County Tuesday morning. Rancho Tehama is about 115 miles north of the state capital of Sacramento.

He said the kids who were at the school are in a safe location.

Three people have been confirmed dead and others have been transported to the hospital.

Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston told Action News Now said he was told that the suspected shooter was killed by law enforcement officers. "Multiple students" were airlifted from the scene, with a 6-year-old reportedly among the injured.

The six-year-old child reportedly had two gunshot wounds and another child was reportedly shot in the leg.

Students at Rancho Tehama Elementary are being evacuated to the Rancho Tehama Recreation Hall. She also saw at least five ambulances responding to the area.
