After what Italian police described as a "very complex" investigation, Anis Hannachi was tracked down in Italy, the statement said, and is being held on suspicion of complicity in his brother's attack and membership in a terrorist group.

Switzerland is sending a Tunisian couple who include the brother of a man presumed to have killed two people in a knife attack at a French train station back to their home country for security reasons, Swiss federal police said on Tuesday.

The news comes as one of Hanachi's other brothers, Anis, was arrested Saturday night in Italy, after French authorities issued an global arrest warrant.

Swiss police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a Tunisian couple including the brother of the assailant who fatally stabbed two young women in the French city of Marseille this month. He is accused of being an accessory to the murder of two French women in the southern French city of Marseille on October 1, according to the police.

The attacker, Ahmed Hanachi, had been married to an Italian woman and lived in Aprilia, south of Rome, from about 2006 to 2014.

Ahmed, the second-youngest of five siblings, was not known to attend any mosque, but was known to the police for drug and alcohol problems. The so-called Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.

Police are now investigating Anis's possible contacts in Italy.

Moez and Amina Hanachi, who both live in Tunisia, were detained on Friday and have been questioned by anti-terror investigators, the prosecution said.

"They appeared before an investigating judge ... who chose to transfer the case to the National Guard" in the north-eastern city of Aouina.

Tunisian Anis Hannachi was arrested in Ferrara on Saturday.

Prosecutors have filed terrorism charges against two men believed to have been planning an attack after their imminent release from prison, sources said on Monday.

Childhood friends have said that Ahmed spent several months in Tunisia in summer 2016 as he tried, with Anouar's help, to beat his addictions.
