Donations from the game will go toward Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, The Washington Nationals Dream Foundation, The Washington Literacy Center and The Capitol Police Memorial Fund. Thursday, as a measure of resilience and tribute.
Meanwhile, the Jewish Council for Public Affairs strongly condemned the "senseless shooting" of Scalise, the Republican House whip from Virginia, and four others in the Wednesday morning attack.
The last time a USA politician was shot was when Democrat Gabby Giffords of Arizona was hit in the head and grievously injured while meeting with constituents at a supermarket auto park in 2011.
"We're playing the game tomorrow".
David Bailey, a Capitol Hill police officer who was part of Mr Scalise's security detail and helped bring down the shooter, was also injured in the incident but had recovered enough to throw the game's ceremonial first pitch.
He had been living out of his van in the Alexandria area in recent months, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said. Agents continue to try and track Hodgkinson's movements in recent weeks. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said he condemned the shooting "in the strongest possible terms" after he learned the shooter had volunteered on his Democratic presidential campaign.
Vice President Mike Pence earlier on Thursday said he visited the hospital where Scalise was being treated.
Hospital officials said a bullet fractured Scalise's bones and damaged internal organs. Scalise was struck in the left hip and collapsed on the field, according to witnesses.
Scalise remained listed in critical condition Thursday night after multiple surgeries, though word came from the hospital during the game that he had improved.
Scalise underwent a third procedure and second surgery for his gunshot wound Thursday. And there was a moment of silence for the victims of Wednesday's shootings.
"The events of yesterday were devastating, and we know it will take time to heal". We all salute them.
Griner, Bailey and a third officer, Henry Cabrera, engaged the gunman nearly immediately, and Alexandria Police officers quickly added support upon arriving at the scene, eventually fatally wounding the alleged gunman, identified by federal law enforcement sources to CNN as James Hodgkinson. It was one of unity and very honest concern for Rep. Scalise.
The first fire crews arrived at the scene within minutes, and the London Fire Brigade soon declared it a major incident. Ahlam Said, who made it out of the blaze early-on, was emotional as she spoke to CBS News outside the building.

Then, in the third quarter, Green was called for another technical, which would have forced him to be ejected from the game. Bringing defensive help against Curry leaves someone else open for a pass and scoring opportunity, Durant warned.
