US House approves bill to repeal Affordable Care Act

GOP Members Pull Back Curtain, Describe 'Hands-On' President 'Republicans kicked a hornet's nest' and Democrats say they will pay in 2018

The bill's passage has stirred an vast amount of fear and concern, given what it would mean for Americans with pre-existing health conditions, what it would do to their premiums, and what would happen to millions of people who'd lose their coverage as a result. "The Senate is starting from scratch".

The House plan to repeal Obamacare would cut all federal funding to Planned Parenthood and would allow states to end Obamacare's prohibition on discrimination against patients with preexisting conditions-allowing insurance companies to charge women more strictly because they are women.

"If we're going to have the health care law, let's amend the current bill, let's change the current bill instead of bringing in an entirely new program that could lead even bigger faults", he stated.

For some lawmakers, getting it right will mean modifying the House's bill's $800 billion cut to Medicaid.

The legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, which faces sharp Democratic opposition, now heads to the Senate where it faces an uncertain fate.

For others, tough votes could make the prospect of retirement more appealing. In light of the vote, we are shifting our ratings in 20 districts, all reflecting enhanced opportunities for Democrats. "That's not the way it is going to work".

Dearborn said last week on the podcast: "Will there be some changes?" The damage that House Republicans may suffer depends to a degree on what the Senate does.

Democrats seized the offensive, insisting it was a pipe dream to think the Republican plan forecast to push 24 million people off insurance could become law as it stands. Gov. Bruce Rauner and House Speaker Michael Madigan don't talk to one another and can't pass a budget - not a very comforting prospect if you have pre-existing conditions.

"This is one stage in a multistage legislative process", he said. "And then you go to conference and iron out the differences".

In the Senate, not a single woman is part of the working group created to overhaul health care.

Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., predicted a long road ahead for his chamber as they work to corral the disparate groups of skeptics and come up with a bill that at least majority can support.

But Democrats are already hopeful this vote will work against the GOP next year, when midterm elections roll around. "We know this bill needs to be fixed".

The bill as passed by the House moves in the opposite direction, but Mr. Trump presented it differently.

With a slim majority, McConnell can only afford to lose two votes from his party.

Critics of the GOP bill - titled the American Health Care Act - argue those with pre-existing conditions are the most at risk. "The Senate will complete the job".
